Food Supplier Sued By Salmonella Victims

A Seattle law firm filed a salmonella lawsuit against Coronet Foods, Inc. on Monday in federal district court.

According to a Marler Clark press release, the plaintiff in the lawsuit is James Groves, of West Sunbury. Groves became ill and was hospitalized three days after consuming a sandwich purchased from a Sheetz store on July 2.

William Clark, the attorney for Groves and 23 other victims of this outbreak, said, "Unfortunately, we are seeing another bacterial outbreak tied to fresh fruits and vegetables. Over the past years, we have seen a decline in cases involving the traditional culprits, such as ground beef, however, the number of produce-related outbreaks seems to on the rise."

Marler Clark also represented more than 100 victims of the Beaver County hepatitis A outbreak.
